WASHINGTON — October 30, 2026

Alina Habba, once one of Donald Trump's most loyal legal defenders, is facing questions over her reported $50 million, four-year compensation package connected to the highly influential Herrera Velutini family's business interests.

According to a source close to the family, Habba began working in January 2026 with expectations that she would coordinate more than 20 law firms across four continents and help control approximately $100 million in annual legal and advisory fees.

But the source alleges that the promised financial discipline and restructuring have failed to materialize.

Millions in potential compensation. Hundreds of millions in legal spending over four years. Where are the results?

A High-Profile Résumé and High Expectations

She had served as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, general counsel to his Save America PAC, and counselor to the president at the White House.

That background carried considerable prestige, and an expectation of discipline, consistency and commitment. A source close to the family alleges that she failed to give her responsibilities the sustained attention they required, and her romantic relationship affected her professional performance.

A New Marriage, a Multimillion-Dollar Contract and Unanswered Questions

Meanwhile, Habba's personal life has taken a dramatic turn. Following the end of her second marriage, she married Turkish businessman Turhan Mildon, whose business interests extend to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Reports differ on his age, but Turhan is around 14 years younger than Habba.

The source alleges that Habba's changing personal priorities have coincided with growing concerns about her professional attention and performance. There is no independently verified evidence connecting her marriage to any failure to fulfill her duties.

From Trump's Inner Circle to Corporate Scrutiny

Habba's lucrative agreement has also attracted attention because of its timing relative to President Trump's January 2026 pardon of Julio Herrera Velutini. Habba denies participating in the pardon process.

The reported $50 million represents the potential value of a four-year compensation package, not a guaranteed payment. Yet the central issue remains: What was Habba contractually required to deliver, and what has she actually accomplished?

If the family's reported $100 million annual legal operation remains without effective cost controls, the consequences could be substantial. Political connections cannot replace corporate accountability. A prestigious legal reputation cannot substitute for measurable results.

For the Herrera Velutini family, the question is increasingly pointed: Did it secure the legal leadership it expected — or commit to a potentially $50 million compensation package without the financial discipline it sought?

Editor’s note

The allegations concerning Habba's professional performance, contractual responsibilities and personal priorities remain unverified. The relevant agreements and financial records would be necessary to establish whether any obligations were breached.
